Our brains don’t like it when we take away something that gives us pleasure or provides us with relief. Knowing this, let’s work with your brain, rather than against it.

Katy’s Approach

How we see ourselves and speak to ourselves has a huge impact on how we feel in life and how we show up in the world. But therapy isn’t just about learning how to “think more positively”, “be nice to yourself” or “stop doing something harmful”. It’s about uncovering where these patterns come from and how they have both helped and hurt you along the way. We all have blind spots and seeking therapy just shows a willingness to shine light on them. I’ll help you get to know yourself and understand yourself as a whole person, not just a set of symptoms. We’ll piece together the “why” and “how” of what you’re struggling with in the present and I’ll guide you and support you in making changes so you can get what you really want and need.

If you:

  • Struggle to stop behaviors that are hurting you or the ones you love

  • Find yourself numbing or medicating when things get stressful

  • Think more than you feel

  • Feel as if you’re living two separate lives

  • Are high achieving and rarely make time for yourself

  • Want a therapist who will hold you accountable

I’ll help you:

  • Manage or stop unhealthy behaviors and replace them with healthy coping

  • Set healthy boundaries with yourself and others

  • Learn how to feel and process emotions, riding the wave of them without getting pulled under

  • Identify what your needs are and how to meet them

  • Build a relationship with yourself so that you can genuinely connect with others

More About Katy

I was one of the kids who knew exactly what I wanted to do when I grew up and then did it. I knew the end goal was working directly with clients, but what I didn’t know was how much personal work was going to go into the process. Between working as a therapist in different settings and doing the work on the other side in my own therapy, I found my way to the recovery community and specializing in helping people struggling with substance use or addictions. I have so much respect for people who decide to take the steps to change the way they’ve been living and after 10 years in practice I still feel honored to be in this role.
